As the Managing Director at the former IHG, Intercontinental Hotel I was responsible for the conceptualization, refurbishment and repositioning of this luxury Hotel with a wide range of services and facilities, such as but not limited to, 6 Restaurants & Bars, the hottest rooftop terrace in town and Conference facilities catering up to 2000 attendees.
The Lagos Continental Hotel is a 5-Star hotel is in the popular high-brow area of Lagos, at Plot 52, Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. It offers 358 luxury and tastily furnished rooms. It is the tallest hospitality building in Nigeria, and with its terraces, it offers splendid views of the Lagos city, most importantly the Lagos Port and Lagos skyline. It is a 10 minutes drive away from Ikoyi Club; with its proximity to Silverbird Cinemas and Embassies, it has the right location for guests to enjoy their stay.
I have had the distinct pleasure to get to know Marcel as GM at ‘Hotel Rwanda’. Under his tenure, the hotel became more lively, welcoming and increasingly the place to be for an evening out. Live music, well-trained staff and a cozy pool-side bar made the difference as well as the energetic presence of Marcel himself.
I had the pleasure to later on stay at the Bujumbura Golf Hotel, where Marcel had become GM. It became once again clear that he had not lost his touch. I warmly recommend Marcel Brekelmans as General Manager of your hotel.
