I have a strong operational (project) background in hardship locations. I am specialized in (pre) opening, restructuring & repositioning of Hotels & Restaurants. My projects include:

Lagos Continental Hotel, Lagos, Nigeria

As the Managing Director at the former IHG, Intercontinental Hotel I was responsible for the conceptualization, refurbishment and repositioning of this luxury Hotel with a wide range of services and facilities, such as but not limited to, 6 Restaurants & Bars, the hottest rooftop terrace in town and Conference facilities catering up to 2000 attendees.

The Lagos Continental Hotel is a 5-Star hotel is in the popular high-brow area of Lagos, at Plot 52, Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. It offers 358 luxury and tastily furnished rooms.

Hotel 2 Fevrier, Lomé, Togo

As General Manager, I was in charge of the transition from a privately owned Hotel into an International group managed property (reflagging exercise). After my initial Interim role I remained on board as the MD and owners rep.

In this role, I was responsible for both day-to-day operation of this large (325 units) business Hotel in West Africa (with mix business use of Rooms, Suites and 64 Apartments), as well as smoothening the path for an as seamless as possible transition into a 5* branded product.

Plaza Beach Resort Bonaire

I was responsible for the re-positioning of this ones best Hotel on the Dutch Antilles. 

Plaza Beach Resort Bonaire operates 126 suites on the All Inclusive concept and has one of the largest dive operation on the Island (4 vessels).

The Hotel is privately owned and the shareholders wish to convert the operation from family owned and managed into a more International (operational) standard driven Hotel.

I have been responsible for the (pre) opening of this luxury marina and hospitality project in order to position itself at the top of the European and World marinas specialized in and catering for super yachts.

Taba Sands Hotel, Egypt

As the General Manager I have been responsible for the opening of this Boutique Hotel with 100 rooms constructed over 2 phases, containing 8 Food & Beverage outlets and the largest Casino in the region. 

As the Hotel is not chain affiliated, it gave me the opportunity to open a Hotel from scratch, including but not limited too; construction, design, outlet development, Sales & Marketing strategy, development of corporate identity and establishing operational procedures as per international standards.

Hotel des Mille Collines ‘Hotel Rwanda’

I have been responsible for the re-positioning of this world-famous hotel Rwanda, after an extensive renovation. 50% of renovation works were completed prior to my arrival and the remaining works were facing serious delays.

I have been appointed to iron out the various operational and contractual differences and to bring the process back to an acceptable pace for all parties involved.
